Obituary

Robert Gilmore Garner, 80, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Tidewell Hospice in Venice surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 22, 1943, to the late Arthur Garner and Romana Fast Garner.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Garner and brother, Gene Garner.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Patricia Hansen Garner; daughters, Mika Haase and husband Ed of Ankeny, Iowa, Misty Ramsdell and husband Scott of Lebanon, Maine; stepson, Matthew Schuler; grandchildren, Nichol, Meagan, Ben, Alex; great grandchildren, Payton, Addison, Bentley, Trynity, Skylar; one sister, Carolyn Deatsch of Urbandale, Iowa, and several other family and friends.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. After getting married on September 6, 2003, Robert and Patricia moved to Florida from Iowa shortly after. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held in the fall when all family and friends are able to attend. The burial will be held in the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.

    Fear Pat & Family - Everett & I were sorry to read this. We always enjoyed watching Bob walking his little dogs around the neighbourhood. Bob always had a friendly smile on his face and a happy greeting . we are so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Everett & Gail
