Obituary
Robert Harry Salberg, 84, of Ocala passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 23, 1931. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and attended the University of Maine, earning his engineering degree while newly married and starting a family. He worked his entire career in engineering, most notably on the anti-ballistic missile project in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Because of the defense department affiliation of the projects Robert worked on, he was transferred numerous times and moved his young family often. They lived in Maine, New Jersey, Texas, North Carolina, Illinois and on Kwajalein Island in the South Pacific, a missile test range. Bob and Pat retired in 1987 and moved from Napierville, IL to Myrtle Beach, SC. In 1988, they moved to Oak Run in Ocala. Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia in Ocala; sister, Gwen Pottoroff in Branson, MO; 3 sons, Thomas in Oakland, ME, Jeff on Ocala and David in Aventura, FL; daughter, Mary McMillan in Walnut Creek, CA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Robert was an avid golfer, loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed competitive sports of all kinds. He was loved by family and friends alike and will be sorely missed. He was a good man; one of the best. His family wishes to thank you for your thoughts and prayers. The family is planning a Celebration of Robert’s Life for a later date to be determined. Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremation 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala, 352-236-5884.
