Obituary

Robert (Bob) Hayen passed from this crazy world on November 18, 2023. He was 76 years old and lived in The Villages, FL where he and his wife have resided for 19+ years.

Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY.  Then as a young man his family moved to Hempstead, Long Island. He served in the Army infantry in Viet Nam from 1967 to 1969. When he returned stateside he started work with American Airlines as a ticket agent. He then moved up to a Passenger Service Manager at JFK airport. This is where he met and married his wife Chris.  He then moved on to Americans headquarters. He became the Manager of Food and Beverage Operations. When headquarters moved to Texas so did he and his wife. He stayed with American Airlines for 34 years, where he made wonderful friends and thoroughly enjoyed life.

After retiring from American both he and Chris loved fly fishing, golf and RVing. They traveled extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest.  One of his favorite pastimes during their working years was their weekend lake house and boat and the many lifelong friends that were made.  He is survived by his wife Christine and his daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Matt Horseman and his 4-legged friend, Willow.

Bob will be buried at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Thursday, December 7, 2023 10:30 AM. The family would prefer donations to Bob’s favorite charity, Tunnels to Towers, in lieu of flowers.    A Celebration of Life party will follow sometime in the months ahead, at his request.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.

Chris, we will always remember all the stories Bob told of y’all’s adventures camping and fishing. Even remember him tying his own lures. His presence on the street will be sorely missed. We can’t go by your house without looking for him either working in the yard, or resting in a chair with Willow. He always seemed to be in a good mood, with beautiful smiles for everyone.

What a guy! Bob was a wonderful, humorous and caring person. As street neighbors for nearly 20 years, we shared many stories, laments and chuckles. He is missed greatly. Bob was strong in his faith and now has everlasting peace and joy with Lord Jesus Christ. Steve

I will always remember Uncle Bob with a smile on his face and laughing. He was really personable and had an awesome sense of humor. This news was sudden and sad. My love and prayers and with you Stacey and Aunt Lee.

Dear Chris. I was very sad to hear of Bob's passing. You were one of the first people I got to know at North Lake Presbyterian Church while working on Operation Christmas Child. Bob always had a smile and always a joke for me., I recall his volunteering to usher or serve communion many, many times. Bob's favorite thing to ask me after he collected the Sunday offering was if he should take his 10% from the plate or would I be paying him separately!! The world lost a bright light that will never be replaced. I know how heartbroken you must be so please know you will be in my prayers for comfort and peace at this time.

Words cannot express how much Bob will be missed, even though we have lost contact since we both retired. There so many memories of fun social gathering at golf outings, fishing trips and on his prized boat. I do know that we emptied more scotch bottles than I want to remember. I also recall dumping Chris off a golf cart in Arizona. Rest in peace my friend

Bob was such a wonderful, funny man. It was such a joy spending the last 19 years as his neighbor and friend. I am so glad he is at peace and now enjoying time with some old friends and family who have passed before him.

Bob's clever sense of humor defined him for me. I wish I had gotten to know him better because of that.
