Obituary
Robert David Maclay passed away on June 2,2020 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 92. Born on April 7, 1928 in Fannettsburg, PA, he was the son of Charles Wylie Maclay and Margaret Johnston Maclay.
After a two year tour of duty in the United States Navy, Robert graduated from Grove City College in PA with a marketing degree. He started his career in Pittsburgh, PA with the Gulf Oil Corporation. He married Helen Foster Greer in 1953 and they had three children as his career carried the family from Pittsburgh to Houston, TX then on to Jackson, MS. Bob retired from Portland Pipeline in Portland, ME in 1989. Bob and Helen then moved to Englewood, FL where they enjoyed retirement with walks on the beach, boating adventures, family and friends, and reading.
In addition to his parents and wife of 39 years, Robert is predeceased by brothers Edward Maclay and Jack Maclay and sisters Peg Patterson and Lucy Koser. He is survived by brothers Charles Maclay of Naples, FL and William Maclay of Aurora, CO.
Left to honor his memory are his daughter Ann M. Meccarielli and husband Bob of Southport, NC and two sons, Robert A. Maclay of Mt Washington, NH and Clark J. Maclay of Cape Coral, FL. Robert has three grandsons, Ryan J. Meccarielli of Charlotte, NC, Brad D. Meccarielli of Augusta, GA, and Nicholas J. Maclay of Cape Coral, FL. He has one grand daughter, Emma White Westcott of Boston MA. Robert has four grandchildren and ten surviving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to beheld at a future date in Fort Myers,FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of SW FL.
