Obituary

Ronald C. Marchese, 71 of The Villages, Fla passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on April 10, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL.  He was born on January 1, 1945 in Queens, NY where he attended Thomas Edison Boy School.  Ron and his wife retired to The Villages in April 2013. A loving, caring, hardworking devoted family man, he is survived by his beloved wife Cathleen, a daughter Yvonne Wachter and her husband Adam, of Bayport, NY, two step-son’s Michael Gugliotta of Bayport, NY and Matthew Gugliotta and his wife Nicole of Port Charlotte, FL. 6 grandchildren, Jason and Danielle, of Bayport, NY, Nicole of Manhattan, NY, Rachel of Shirley, NY Aubrey and Jaelyn of Port Charlotte, FL and many loving cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents Nicolas and Lucille Marchese and two brothers, Nicholas II and Blaze Marchese.  Mr. Marchese began his career when he was politically appointed into a position with the Suffolk County Children’s Shelter located in Hauppauge, NY where he worked as a Children’s Counselor for the Mentally challenged children.  Later on, he was the founder and owner of Baja Flooring Company located in Miller Place, NY.  When he retired from his job and business he worked for the Home Depot Corporation.  He also retired as a Fire-Police from the Bayport Fire Dept.  Ron was a 5th Degree Knight at St. Regis Nights of Columbus in Ronkonkoma, NY, an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, in The Villages, FL as well as Our Lady Of Snow in Blue Point, NY.  Mr. Marchese was a generous contributor where he attended many fundraising events here in The Villages. He enjoyed golf, cooking, traveling, swimming, western movies, and Disney.  He mostly enjoyed cruising with his wife where they went on many exotic cruises.  And once a week, he loved his pizza pies and chili dogs and bagels!!! There will be a private service in The Villages, FL as well as a memorial mass for his family and friends in his hometown of Bayport, NY in May 2016.  A Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lymphoma Society of America, Cornerstone Hospice at 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 or to the charity of your choice.
