Cowan, Ronald Edward, 87, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2022 in Dunnellon, FL, at his residence.

Ron was born on October 1, 1934, in beautiful St. Johnsbury, VT, to parents, Irving Allard Cowan, and Dorothy May (Levier) Cowan. He was raised in East Barnet, VT, and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy. Upon graduation, Ron enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served our country for three years during the Korean War. After leaving the military, he attended Indiana Technical College receiving an associates degree. Ron then began working for Hamilton Standard in Windsor, CT, in the aerospace industry. He retired as senior supervisor for the technical publications division. His team worked on the Astronaut Propulsion Units for Space Walks.

In the later years of Ron’s life, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and snow skiing. He was a member of Joy Lutheran Church in Ocala, FL where he was active in the Men’s Club.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Rita Cowan, of Dunnellon, FL; son, Steven Cowan and his wife, Susan Cowan, of Colchester, CT; stepchildren, Kurt Keokuk, of Charles Town, WV, Keith Keokuk and his wife, Colleen Keokuk, of Carmel, IN. He was survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Cowan Dorsey.

Celebration of Life services will be held August 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at Joy Lutheran Church, Ocala, FL. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd., Suite 300, Ocala, FL 34481.
