Obituary

Deland, FL – Ronald (Ron) F. Richards, 83 years, of Deland, FL passed away Friday, March
25, 2022 peacefully at home after a short illness. Born in Upstate New York on March 15,
1939, he was the son of the late Wendall and Phyllis Richards.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War fixing airplanes before they went into war.
After his time in the military, he worked for NASA with the Apollo project, GE and Benedix
supporting service and maintenance positions.

Ron was an active member of his church, Praise Chapel. In addition he volunteered as part of
the chaplain program at the Florida Hospital in Deland including hospice.

Ron’s favorite hobby was working on diy projects around his home in Deland, FL. He had a gift
of fixing almost everything and you could always find him working on a project. He enjoyed
watching NASCAR and socializing with friends.

He is survived by his wife of over 28 years Mary Richards of Deland, FL; Step-daughter, Lindy
Mascioli of IN; Sister and Brother in Law Janice & Chris Pappas of MA, Nephew Jayson Pappas
of MA and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 2, 2022 at Praise Chapel, 1320 FL-15 Alt
Deland, FL at 11:00 a.m. with coffee and lite snacks immediately after the service. Relatives
and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers New Smyrna Beach, FL.

    Ron could fix anything like new. I worked with him at Spartan where he built some super test equipment.
    Ron will be missed.

    That is a lovely obituary. Ron was a very kind man and I always enjoyed seeing him. He loved our family's Italian treats and it amazed me with much he could eat! He will be missed.
