Obituary

Martin, Ronald (Ron)

Ronald Henry Martin, 78, of Deltona, Florida, succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on October 20, 2017.

Ron is survived by his wife Elsie (Luft) of 50 years, daughter Tamara Martin, son Glenn Martin, sister Dorothy Johnson and, brother Donald (Bea) Martin, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ron was a loving father, husband, and friend to all.

Ron was a veteran of the U.S Army, serving his country with honor.  He spent his professional career as an accountant, working at various manufacturing firms throughout the country. Ron was an avid woodworker utilizing his talents renovating homes with his family. No challenge was too big as Ron learned many skills during the renovations he and his family undertook in California, South Carolina, Connecticut, Georgia, and Florida.

He will be remembered for how much he loved being a Dad to his two children and looked upon his various nieces and nephews in the U.S and Canada as his kids as well.  He was a wonderful friend to many with his social nature and easy going ways.  Always quick with a comment to make you laugh or smile.

The family would like to thank Vitas hospice in Orange City for their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the cancer charity of your choice.

There were so many great memories of my Uncle Ron and the family’s visits to the Great White North I would have to write a novel. The trips in the motor home and the family Christmases were so much fun; all the cousins together I thought those times would never end. For me, the most memorable trip was when we moved the Martins from California to South Carolina in the Jartran trucks. We got to see so many places in the USA and had so many laughs I will never forget them. Rest easy Uncle Ron knowing we love you and will carry the memories forever.

What a wonderful man. Hard working, creative, gentle, and so very kind. I didn't even know what an enchilada was, or how good chips and salsa could be, until he came into our lives. : ) Canada was not that international in the early 70's ! A wonderful uncle who did so much for me when I came to visit. Tirelessly driving to all the tourist sites to be sure nothing was missed. A bear hug like no other. Gone but never forgotten. So many hugs and love to my Aunt Elsie, Tammy and Glenn from Canada to the U.S.
