Obituary

Rosalind (Race) Watt passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022 at Halifax Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1948 in New Smyrna Beach, FLorida and has been a lifelong resident of Florida.

Rosalind, or Roz to all who knew her, graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Wallace Race, her step-mother Margaret Race and sister Shirley Black. Survived by her husband of 37 years Ian, and brother Wallace (Wally) Race.

Roz spent most of her career working as a bookkeeper for auto dealerships. She started at a used car lot in Daytona Beach and retired from Daytona Nissan in 2012. She enjoyed traveling in the United States, cruises, journeys to Europe, and sailing on the “Wind Dancer” with husband and friends. She also loved doing crossword puzzles and shopping with her friend Kathy.

Rosalind will be missed by many friends and critters. She would feed a cat (Miss Kitty) when she took her daily walk. A great and caring mother to all of the dogs and cats the family has had over the years.

Baldwin Brothers is handling the cremation and a gathering of remembrance will be planned for January.

I look at your picture and keep thinking, This can’t be, it can’t be,
it’s too unreal that you’re gone.

Roz, you were always so kind to me, and open, and ready to laugh.
Thank you for the all of you that you gave.

Dear gentle spirit, it feels unfair you had to leave us
but you will rest in our hearts forever.
