Obituary

Sandra Elizabeth (Fraser) DeVries
On November 21st, 2020, Sandie DeVries, of The Villages, FL peacefully passed away at home with her husband, Ray, holding her hand. Sandie leaves behind her beloved husband, Ray, of 36 years, 2 children – John Trolz and Heidi Owens, 3 stepchildren – Kurt DeVries, Karl DeVries, and Pam Seretis, as well many beloved grandchildren.
Sandie was born October 16, 1941 and grew up in Chelsea, Michigan. She graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Nursing school and was a dedicated nurse for 52 years. Sandie spent the last several years working as a hospice nurse while ‘retired’ in The Villages, where she finished her nursing career taking care of her fellow residents.
Sandie’s lifelong love of the outdoors brought her to Northern Michigan in the early 70’s to raise her family. Sandie spent most of her adult life in or around Traverse City, Michigan, where she and Ray raised their family until they retired and moved to The Villages in 1998.
Sandie was well known for her special sense of creativity and crafting skills — especially quilting and doll making. Her quick wit, warm smile and sense of humor made her many, many friends along the way. Sandie will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Sandie will be held on December 17th, from 2 to 4 pm, at the (new) Baldwin Brother location in Spanish Springs at La Plaza Grande 1008 Bichara Blvd The Villages, FL 32162

This message is for Heidi and John and Ray. Roger and I knew Sandie in Ann Arbor as she was Roger’s nurse when he began his OB GYN practice. She was so everything! Secretary, nurse, cleaning woman and could make great lunch on a hot plate. She was our three daughters favorite babysitter. So talented, fun, and such a caring person. We loved her and we have a smile every time we think of her. We know that you have many special memories that will help you get though this sad time. Roger and Cynthia Postmus
