BAKER
Stephen Baker, 77, passed away at home with his wife by his side, September 5th, 2018.
Stephen was born in Hereford, England on May 24, 1941 to parents Hugh and Gwent. As a young man, he attended the Worcester Naval Academy on the River Thames and Exeter University in Wales. He went to sea as a young cadet and became a Captain commanding ultra large tankers worldwide. He retired in 2000 from TK Shipping and retired to California.
It is in California where he fell in love with Melinda Middleton after a chance blind date. The pair were married in Sausalito, California in the early 1980’s. Together, their dream of traveling the world at sea became reality and they crisscrossed the globe happily, later settling in Cambria, California.
Recently, the couple moved to Florida with their two beloved dogs Cambi and Princess to Ormond-by-the-Sea, a small beachside community on the East coast south of St. Augustine. Stephen died from Parkinson’s Disease.
Stephen is survived by his wife Melinda; Daughters Sarah Baker-Smith and Louise Baker-Chong, both of the United Kingdom and granddaughter Honor Rose.
Interment will be at the Cambria Cemetery in California with a private family Memorial Service.
A Memorial Service will be held in Maiden Bradley, UK in the Spring.
