Stephen F Barton, 68, Longwood FL passed away suddenly on June 6, 2012. Born in Atlanta, Ga on January 6, 1944 to Jim and Ann Barton. The family moved to Miami Beach shortly after his birth. He graduated from North Miami High School then went on to college and graduated from the University of West Florida. He and his wife moved to Longwood in 1972. He served as Longwood City Commissioner for two terms from 1977 to 1980. He retired from Texaco Inc after 30 years of service. Not enjoying his retirement he bought his sons landscaping company naming it Stephen Barton, Inc. He loved his landscaping job as much as he did working for Texaco. He had many clients that he considered his friends. His main goal in life was to be a perfect husband and father. He proved this through his love and devotion by putting family first every single day. He truly enjoyed traveling with his wife and children taking vacations every summer traveling within the US and to Europe, Asia, and wherever his children and wife wanted to go. Now that his children are grown, Stephen and his love of his life, Nancy have enjoyed traveling by taking numerous cruises. He loved working outdoors, the University of Miami football team, talking to his children or sending them a text everyday, loved calling his mother-in-law Pauline every Saturday night, but most of all he and his wife getting dressed up and going out to dinner on the weekends so he could "show her off". His famous quote was "I love living right here in Paradise!" He will be greatly missed by everyone that he has ever come in contact with. He will be remembered as a loving and well loved family man, a respected business man, and a good friend. He was always cheerful, encouraging, and never met a stranger. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Nancy H Barton, daughter Sheri and Christopher Wieczorek of Burlington, NC, son David Barton of Port St. Lucie, Fl, Mother-in-law Pauline Henderson of Ozark, AL, sister-in-law Donna and Matt Shane of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by parents Ann and Jim Barton and brother Randy Barton.
Stephen Barton's Celebration of life will begin with a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon, the service will begin at 1:00 at First Baptist Church of Orlando at the Jim Henry Chapel on Monday, June 11 2012.
