Obituary

Early on Sunday, September 12, 2021 Thelma Joyce Flynn-hughes,88, passed away at her home in Fort Myers, Florida after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Gatliff, Kentucky on April 19, 1933 to Charles and Margaret Parks. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in early childhood education. She was a teacher for 30 years in the public school system in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 2001. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 AM in the chapel at Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL.

    Aunt Joyce you were always more than an Aunt. I never had an aunt like you. You cared for everyone and you brought light into any room you came into. I will so miss you and your smile and I’m so glad we spent the last 8 years shopping and just having a ball. Loved you so much. Patty, your surrogate niece. GO CATS!! Your favorite.

    The first time I met Joyce, she immediately made me welcome. She & her husband, Carl welcomed me into the family even before I was actually a member of the family. She was always such a gracious lady & fun to be with. She will be missed,,,,,

    You were a Wonderful MOM !! A perfect fit for me. I'm soo glad that you are not suffering here anymore, although I miss you more than you will ever know. We had Great times together.
