Obituary
Thomas Norman Gilders, 71, of Fort Myers, passed away at home on January 26, 2020. Born May 16, 1948, in Detroit, MI., he was the son of Thomas Hugh Gilders and Leona Newman. He was preceded in death by his father Tom Gilders Sr., step father Leonard Newman, sister Mary Gilders, and granddaughter Madison VanHaren. Surviving are his step mother Shirley Gilders, his wife Robin Gilders, sister Sherry Gilders, brothers Paul (Kathy) Borrusch, Robert (Sue) Gilders, sister Dawn (Bruce) Darr, Dorothy (Keven) Moir, brother Bradley (Vicki) Gilders, daughters Christine Richards, Shannon Kaluja, Jill (Dan) Paullsen, and Jennifer (Steve) Lingertot, son Thomas (Raquel) Tomanek, 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Tom worked with Verdeterre Contracting for 22 years, he also worked deconstruction in Louisiana for 3 years from 2005 to 2008 after a hurricane and organized clean up efforts at Sun-N-Fun Mobile Home Park in Fort Myers after Hurricane Irma. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles clubs, Swan Boat Club from 1992 to 2005, and a board member at Sun-N-Fun where he resided for 15 years. Tom saw every cowboy movie ever made.
