Obituary

LaVerne Cullen Bader, 74, left the room on January 23rd, 2016.   He was a Navy Veteran and served proudly in the Pacific.  He and his family lived in San Diego for a while before he moved on to Arizona, then Miami to publish Florida’s “Highways & By-Ways”.   Cullen was instrumental in helping re-build after Hurricane Andrew and then he retired to St. Cloud, Florida with his lovely wife Barbara, who predeceased him by 11 months.

Cullen is survived by his older brother Omer of Satellite Beach, Florida, his younger brother Duane of Findlay, Ohio and his younger Sister Deborah of Edgewater, Florida.

Cullen struggled with physical ailments his last year on earth but in spite of them, always managed to flash that bright “Cullen” smile and impart a bit of humor and a few words of wisdom to those around him.

He was a terrific story teller and had that special way with people.  Folks loved being around him and laughed with him as he swapped tales for hours on end.

Cullen was a man of God and a sensitive man.  He had a big heart and tried to do the best he could in difficult situations.  He was at all times, aware of the spiritual needs of the people around him and attentive to their needs and tried to keep them moving forward with the Lord.

Cullen was fondly referred to as “Handsome” by his close friends.  We will all miss his devilish smile and charming good humored laughter.

Rest in Peace my Friend.

Cullen was born in Cook County IL. He was a Pastor and publisher. Survivors include three children and a sister Debra. Services will be private.
