Eulogy

Viggo Adolphus Niles Sr.

Viggo was born on the Island of St. Thomas to Viggo Stanley Niles and Inella Inez Niles on September 16, 1959. He was the last of nine siblings. “Juney” as he was affectionately called by his family or “Bugle” by his friends and acquaintances, grew up “round the field.” He was a devoted father to his four children, Areshma, Jamal, Viggo Jr.(deceased) and Re’Anna. He later met and married the love of his life Denise Arnold on December 24, 1994. He immediately fell in love with Denise’s two children Anisha and Alastair and cared for them as his own.

He worked several years for the Department of Property and Procurement and also with The Department of Human Services.  He relocated to Orlando Florida in 2015 and gained employment with two Darden Restaurant Chains, namely, The Capital Grille and Longhorn Restaurant. Viggo was a dedicated employee who took pride in his work and was always ready to assist if needed. His co-workers remember him for the music he played for them using his blue tooth speaker and how he kept them dancing and happy.  An avid lover of thoroughbred horse racing, he has owned, and trained many thoroughbred and native horses in the Virgin Islands. He enjoyed taking his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to the race track to ride his horses. He has received trophies for 1st place and Best Trainer. His love for horses took him to Tampa Bay Downs and Gulf Stream Race Tracks in Florida.

When Viggo entered a room or gathering, everyone knew a joke was coming, especially if we were just sitting around quietly.  He made you laugh until you were literally in tears! Even on the days when Viggo wasn’t feeling his best, he would still uplift our spirits with his humor and wit.  He was not a complicated person, but very easy going and loved his family.

In 2016 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. During the years of his treatment, he found comfort thru his pain by spending time with fur baby, Leilani. She was a great companion and he enjoyed taking care of her and cuddle time. He fought his battle until he transitioned peacefully to his heavenly rest on January 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife, family and his fur baby Leilani. We can be comforted in knowing that Viggo is no longer in pain and is at peace, resting in the arms of our Savior. “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord”

Viggo leaves to mourn his Wife Denise D.
