Obituary

Our dear mother Virginia (Ginny) Springfield sadly passed away on
January 25, 2023 at the age of 82 with her family by her side. Born in
Lubbock, Texas on June 28, 1940 to the late Burl & Bessie Springfield,
Ginny lived in Connecticut for many years before moving to Fort Myers
where she resided for the past 34 years.
Upon moving to Fort Myers, Ginny began her career with Lee County Port
Authority where she remained until her retirement in 2009. She was
dedicated in life to protecting and helping others. Once retired, she
volunteered at Lee Health for a time, but her passion and love for others
eventually brought her out of retirement and she became an employee.
She continued working there until the time of her passing. Ginny always
considered her LCPA and Lee Health colleagues and friends to be more
like family.
Ginny was pre deceased by her son Joseph T. Bielawski, sisters Robbie
Miller, Linda Cummings, brothers Jerry Springfield and Wayne Reeder.
Ginny was a dedicated and loving mother to her two daughters, Lori Bailey
(Doug), Brenda Lajoie (Darius), Grandmother to Amanda, Amy and Scott
Bryda, Katie Leone (Tim) and Matthew Lajoie. Over the past two years,
she joyfully became a great grandmother to Cameron and Madison, whom
she spoke of endlessly. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronnie
Springfield, Donna Tomilinson, Darlene Hamrick along with several nieces,
nephews and cousins. She will be missed dearly by her many friends.
A memorial service will be held at on March 4th at 9:00 am, St. Joseph’s
Church in New Britain, Connecticut, graveside service to follow.
In lieu of flowers per family request please donate to the American Kidney

I met Ginny about 4 years ago waiting on an elevator at the hospital. We quickly became friends and shared a smile and a hug every time we crossed paths at work. She was such a beautiful lady and always had a smile on her face, especially when she would talk about her family. I will truly miss her!
