A Poem for My Friend
I lost my friend years ago
Though he died just yesterday;
The man he was had been stolen from him
As his memory faded away.
The person he became in recent years
Was a dependent little child;
He needed constant attention and care,
Which he accepted with a kiss and a smile.
I look forward to the day when I’ll see him again,
I have promised him we will be neighbors;
We’ll work on the pond and yard together,
Then enjoy the fruits of our labors.
Till then I will find other things to do
Since my time with my friend is done;
I’ll console myself now with thoughts of the future
Since life everlasting he’s won.
Love,
Carolyn Sue Kemmer
