Obituary

Warren Charles Whitmore, born in Dover, NJ on January 20, 1932 passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018, in Oxford, FL.

Warren was a Sergeant in the US Army from 1949 to 1952 and received several Metals of Honor for service in the Korean War. He married Mary D’Ottavio, his Dover High School sweetheart on September 19, 1953 and resided in Succasunna, NJ where he & Mary raised their five children.  He worked at Westinghouse Elevator Company as Principal Engineer for over 30 years until retirement to The Villages, FL.

During his retirement, Warren enjoyed friends, playing golf, square dancing, card games, and traveling. He participated and volunteered for many clubs and activities throughout the 29 years of residency in FL. He was a wonderful husband and father, always caring and considerate to his wife and children above all.

Warren is survived by his wife Mary, four daughters, Cindy and Ray Rusoff, Suzanne and husband John Meehan, Lois and husband Bob Bittner, Marilyn and husband Frank Trockel and son Stephen.  He has four grandchildren, Tammy Bittner and husband Mike Jakubczyk, Marianna, Sandra and Angeline Trockel and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Weston Jakubczyk.

The military funeral will be held on Thursday, July 5 at 10:30am at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Warren’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or to your favorite charity.
