Wayne Paul Wainio, 61, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away on December 26, 2016. Second born son to Elma Elizabeth Wainio and Toivo Wainio who preceded him in death as well as his older brother, Steven Wainio. Wayne was also preceded in death by his devoted wife, Carolyn Ann Wainio. He is survived by his proud and loving daughter, Elizabeth Lee Wainio, first wife, Kathryn Denise Wainio and James “Lizard” Leavenworth who he thought of and treated as a son. Wayne lived in Florida most of his life and worked as a pool excavator. He was the business owner of Wayne’s Excavation since 2000. In the early 90’s, Wayne moved to New Smyrna Beach where he met Carol and soon after they got married. He and Carol enjoyed their home on Riverside Drive in New Smyrna Beach for many years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing, and loved being on the water. Wayne also enjoyed Nascar races, but was happiest riding his Harleys which he had done all his life. Wayne was a loving father and was very much looking forward to being a grandfather in August. He had a big heart, especially when it came to his animals of all kinds, especially his most loyal buddy, HoundDog and being around his friends. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. A Celebration of his life will be held at SNPJ Lodge at 421 N Samsula Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL on January 7, 2017 starting at noon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Camp Boggy Creek on their website at campboggycreek.org or the Halifax Humane Society at 2364 LPGA Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
