Obituary
Wendell Lonnie Quilling, 91, of New Smyrna Beach, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
He was born in Orlando, Florida on December 2, 1930 to his parents, the late Charles and Maude(Spencer)Quilling. Wendell grew up there and attended Cherokee Junior High and Orlando Junior College. When he was 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS St. Paul during the Korean War as a Boatswain’s Mate. He married his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy, in Winter Park following his military service. Wendell worked at Florida Power(Progress/Duke) in the store’s department for 30 years before retiring in New Smyrna Beach in 1990.
Wendell enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing, working in the yard, watching college football, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved going to his Wednesday morning men’s prayer group.
Wendell is survived by his son John. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, daughter Wende Schwering, grandson Greg Allard, and brothers Charles, Donald, Raymond and Jerry.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, 10AM, at Crossroads Christian Church in New Smyrna Beach, with Pastor Ben Ling officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Crossroads Christian Church.
