Obituary

Wendy Norrey Valis (52), recently from New Smyrna Beach Florida, passed away on Monday November 13th 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Wendy was born on April 26 1971, in LaSalle, Illinois to Ernest and Virginia Valis.

Wendy attended Florida State University, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. She then went on to find her passion for education, and went back to Florida State to obtain her Master’s degree in elementary ed. Then she taught 5th grade for over ten years before becoming a successful business woman and developing a real estate portfolio.

She was extraordinarily selfless yet flavored that selflessness with some stubborn and sass. She was known for her propensity to enjoy angry chick music, along with the sweet sounds of her beachy country favorites. She was a voracious reader, and frequently could be found soaking up the sun with a book in her hand. She found a love for gardening and in particular the care and feeding of orchids. She was a great giver of gifts, some made with her own hands but always well thought out. Last but not certainly not least, Wendy was a great mother and amazing wife.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents and her birth mother.

She is survived by her husband Brad, her children Ariel and Jacob, her parents Ern and Lynn (Lynn was always mom to her), brother Ben, and that damn farm cat Lucky.

A small informal service will be held at 3PM on Monday, November 20th at Baldwin Brothers funeral home located at 1 N Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society https://www.nationalmssociety.org

Her wit and sarcasm was top notch, and could always pull a belly laugh from me. She will be missed for sure.
