Obituary
William B. Holm, 84, of the Villages, Florida, entered Eternal Life on December 17th, 2021. William was born to Walter and Elsie Holm on June 14th, 1937, in Manistique, Michigan.
Bill graduated from Manistique High School in 1955. After high school, Bill went off to sail the Great Lakes on the Iron Ore boats. Shortly afterward, he enrolled in Michigan Tech University and later Northern Michigan University, from which he earned his degree in Education. In 1958 he married his high school sweetheart and together they raised sons, Michael, Patrick, Christopher and Kevin.
After graduating, Bill accepted his first teaching job in Racine, Wisconsin at Washington Junior High. Bill taught mathematics and was the basketball coach. During his time in Racine, he furthered his education by obtaining his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
In the summer of 1969, Bill accepted the principal position at South Park Middle School in Oshkosh, WI. It was there where he formed numerous lasting friendships with colleagues, friends and neighbors.
Bill was an avid sports fan, especially dear to his heart were the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He was a proud 30-year ticket holder for the Badger football team. He was also an ever-present supporter of his sons’ sporting events. He was very active in the Oshkosh West Booster Club.
After retiring from the Oshkosh School System, Bill followed his older brothers to the Villages, Florida where he purchased a home. Once again, he formed many new lasting friendships with his “Southern” neighbors. One of his prized possessions was his Badger Red Mazda Miata Convertible. He was often spotted cruising around the neighborhood or driving down to the square to enjoy the live music.
Bill was a man of great integrity with a hard work ethic. He was proud of his family, strict at times, but always fair. He was always the “Principal” who never stopped teaching. Thank you, Dad, for everything and now it is your time to rest in peace.
William is survived by his sons Michael Holm, Christopher (Staci) Holm, Kevin Holm, Grandchildren Holly (Brandon) Anderson, Alexis Holm, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in Death by his parents Walter and Elsie, Stepfather William Cowman, Brothers James, and Orvis, Son Patrick Holm and Beverly Holm
