Obituary
William (Bill) Corcoran, age 80, passed away on October 15th, 2018 in Lady Lake, FL, surrounded by his family. Bill was born and raised in New Haven, CT and has lived in Hamden and Newington in CT before retiring to The Villages in Lady Lake, FL in 2001. Bill had a long history of public service with the Army and Coast Guard Reserves, East Haven (CT) Police Department, Hamden (CT) Police Commissioner, Newington (CT) Volunteer Fire Department, and Marion County Sheriff’s Department (FL) as well as several local and state commissions including as the President of the Police Commissioner’s Association of Connecticut. Bill worked for the Hartford Insurance Co. for 34 years. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Burghart) Corcoran, and his three sons, Bill Jr. (and his wife Patricia), Tim (and his wife Pam), and Kevin (and his wife Lora) and his five grandchildren (Heather, Will (and his wife Sarah), Rebecca (and her husband Karl), Melissa, and Kylie).Memorial services are scheduled for November 10th at 8:30 am at St. Timothy’s Church in Lady Lake, FL immediately followed by a celebration of life at the Julio Iglesias Room within the La Hacienda Center in Lady Lake, FL.The family has designated the National Kidney Foundation for memorial contributions.
