Obituary

William (Bill) Douglas Dake, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 in Tavares, Florida.

Born in Grand Rapids, MI (previously lived in Jackson, MI), Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He leaves behind cherished memories of his 22 years of marriage to his devoted wife, Jane Ann Dake (Posey).

Bill was a man of many passions.  He found solace in the tranquility of swimming, and the thrill of fishing and hunting.  His greatest joy came from sharing these experiences with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them the art of fishing and swimming, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

Those who knew Bill will remember him as more than just a man; he was a storyteller, weaving tales that captivated the hearts of all who listened, and a jokester, always ready to bring laughter to any gathering.

Bill is survived by Jane Ann Dake (Posey) (Spouse); Daughters Brandi (Steve) and Jody; Sister Judy (Dave); Grandchildren Brittanie (Dalton), Harlie (Chris), Courtney (Travis), and Trevor, Dustin (Maria); Great Grandchildren Hunter, Gunner, Vinny, Julian, Oaklynn and Anessa; Step children Ben (Ceil), Jerry, David (Robbin), John, Tom, Kim, Karen (Dan), Kathy (Larry), Don (Sylvia), Jay; Step Grandchildren, Jack, Willis, Evan, Morgan, Valarie, Victoria, Nathan, Ben; and Ethan and Remi (step great grandchildren), and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his father Forrest Miles Dake; his mother Garland Enola Robinson; brothers Marvin Dake & Forest Dake

Services to be announced at a later date.

Uncle Bill, I will forever be grateful for the "survival" skills you taught me growing up while out hunting in Houghton Lake. (Even if you caught your boots and pant leg on fire from the oily work boots). Too many stories to share here, but best bet I'll share them in conversations for years to come. Enjoy a beverage or two with my old man, I'm sure he was there waiting for you with open arms! I love ya, Unk!
