Obituary
William S. Hood, 77, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on October 9, 2021 after a lengthy battle of cancer.
Bill was born on December 10, 1943 to Shelton and Mary Frances (Coker) Hood in Greenwood, MS. Bill graduated from Greenwood High School and then received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Mississippi State University. He was absolutely thrilled when the Mississippi State Baseball team won the National Championship this year.
Bill started his career in the food industry specializing in candy product development, working for Carnation, Sunmark, Heath and Kroger. Bill then became a flavor sales representative working for The Edlong Corp. in Chicago.
Upon relocation to Fort Myers, Bill became a successful realtor working for ERA Realty.
Bill and Jackie (nee Gould) were married for 36 wonderful years. They were best friends and traveled the world together. They relocated to Fort Myers in 1997 and joined The Club at Gateway where they have made many cherished friendships. One of Bill’s favorite accomplishments was winning the overall golf championship in the member/member golf tournament three times.
Bill is survived by his daughters Beverly Hood, Cindi (Hood) Bish and his son, Bentley Hood. He was predeceased by his son, William Shelton Hood, Jr. Bill also is survived by grandchildren, Jessica (Hood) Schmidt, Lauren Hales, Peyton Hales, Ian Bish, Tyler Bish, Niah Bish, Madison Hood, Zoe Hood and Aiden Hood and his greatgrandson, Harvey Schmidt.
Bill loved his dogs, Mindy and Mike, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Gulf Coast Humane Society
