Obituary
William J. McAuliffe, age 90, of Weirsdale, FL passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022. He was born on November 18, 1931 in New London, NH and grew up in the White Mountains of NH.
He will be missed by his children, Lynne (William), William, and Douglas (Claudia), 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Bertha (Parsonage) McAuliffe and brothers John and Thomas.
Enlisting in the US Air Force during the Korean War, he flew as a crewman on B-29s and was a KC-97 crew chief. He received a B.S in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He spent his entire professional career as a Project Manager of numerous commercial buildings throughout Northern New England for Harvey Construction company of Bedford, NH, retiring as Senior Vice President. Long active in construction affairs on the Board of Directors of the AGC of NH, he served as President in 1985
In retirement, he enjoyed fishing and golf before moving to an aviation community near The Villages, FL. There he built his own home and hangar before building two experimental aircraft, the first of which he flew solo roundtrip to Alaska for fishing. He was very fond of woodworking and enjoyed making furniture and restoring a 1960 Chris-Craft mahogany runabout.
