Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of William Martin Shanahan on December 11th 2022 at 8:37 am at his home in Cape Coral, FL. William passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a six month battle with colon cancer. William was born on January 10th 1959 in Evergreen Park, IL. On October 25th 2001 he married his soulmate Adena. William “Billy” was a very knowledgeable mechanic and retired early from Nipsco in Michigan City, IN after 38 years of service to enjoy his beautiful life in Florida with the love of his life Adena Shanahan. Williams’ personality and love for his family will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. William taught us all that hard work is what sets the stage for your future. He taught us all so much, more than he will ever know, and his knowledge and love will forever live on through his family. William was an amazing husband, wonderful father to three children plus his bonus daughter and loving grandfather to thirteen. William enjoyed boating, bike riding, working in his garage and spending quality time with his family. He loved to fix anything and everything, even if it didn’t need to be fixed. There was nothing that William couldn’t fix and his skills, patience and humor were extraordinarily “one of a kind”. He was a gift that kept on giving and was the glue that held us all together. Those he left behind are his wife of twenty one years Adena Shanahan, children Craig Hammonds, Amanda Pinks and Kristy Hammonds, bonus daughter (daughter-in-law) MacKenzie Hammonds, (son-in-law) Matthew Pinks, grandchildren Carter Long, Alyvia Hammonds, Nora Hammonds, Brayden Eckman, Tristen Eckman, Grace Hammonds, Cohen Pinks, Jordan Fletcher, Grayson Pinks, Camdyn Pinks, Timothy Hammonds, Peter Hammonds and Millie Hammonds. We are beyond shocked and saddened by his death but he will forever live on in our hearts. This is not “Goodbye” but simply “Until we meet again”. FLY HIGH OUR ANGEL “BILLY”
