Obituary
Willie Everett Felton Sr., was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on October 17, 1940, son of the late Willie Mae and Wesley Felton Sr. and departed his life of excellence on September 2, 2017.
Willie was preceded in death by his siblings Ceclephus Everett Sr., Wesley Felton Jr., Roland Lamb Felton, and Carolyn Marie Felton-Bryant.
Willie had attended the Banks Street Elementary School, upon graduation he attended P.W. Moore High School where he excelled in his studies and graduated. He attended and graduated Elizabeth City State University. Willie’s zest for learning did not stop there, he heard the call of the Lord and attended the New York Theological Seminary.
Willie moved to New York City met and married the beautiful Arlene Olivia Moore on January 17, 1967. Three children were born to this union; twins Carmen Olivia Felton, Willie Everett Felton Jr., and Doretta Annette Felton. Willie loved his family and worked hard to maintain the household.
Willie was a soft spoken man with great articulation, eloquence, and proper diction when he spoke people listened, he had a passion for singing and he had a beautiful voice and a smile that would light up the world. He was happy to help others, if you needed him he was there in a heartbeat. Willie and Arlene loved to travel together. Most of all he loved the Lord.
Willie was adventurous and strived for success by working was a Short Order Cook at the age of fourteen. He joined Union 46 and helped to build the world famous Twin Towers of New York City.
Willie joined St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; He served as a faithful Deacon for many years at Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York as well as Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Willie leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Arlene Olivia Moore Felton, two daughters Carmen and Doretta and a son Willie Jr., two grandsons Dontai and Christian Peters, a brother Charles Felton, two sister in-law’s Selma Felton of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Mattie Felton of Bronx, New York, three brother in-law’s Frank Bishop of Brooklyn, New York, Harold and Patricia Moore of Chicago, Illinois, and Edward Moore of Barbados, West Indies, he leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, coworkers and friends.
