Obituary

Jerry Gerlach, 75, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 20, 1949, in Ames, Iowa,

Jerry was the beloved son of Robert and Beverly Gerlach. He was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Tami, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of love and companionship.  He was a proud and loving father to his children: Scott (Tracy) Gerlach of Marion, Iowa; CJ Gerlach of Algona, Iowa; Greg (Jessica) Gerlach of Denver, Colorado; Ann Gerlach of Des Moines, Iowa; Nick (Elizabeth) Gerlach of Norwalk, Iowa; and Nathan (Baily) Gerlach of Grimes, Iowa. Jerry was especially proud of his nine cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Brycen, Emma, Jacob, Remy, Roman, River, Trice, and Breck, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.  Jerry is also survived by his siblings: Diane (Jim) Smith, Debbie (Kim) Rasmusson, Rob (Elena) Gerlach, Gini (John) Potter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry dedicated 49 years to the agricultural industry, beginning in his teens working in his family’s fertilizer business. He later built a distinguished career as a commodity broker, a commercial grain advisor to farmers and farm elevators, a fund broker, and an advisor to both individual and commercial traders. He was highly regarded for his expertise and integrity in the field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry had a lifelong passion for sports. As a loyal Iowa State Cyclones fan, he cheered on his team with unwavering enthusiasm. He also found great joy in coaching his children’s teams when they were younger, instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. In Florida, he continued his love for sports by actively participating in the Wildwood Booster Club, a role he cherished.
