Obituary
Deborah Jean Bennett, (Debbie), 77, of Fort Myers Florida passed away from cardiac arrest on April 17, 2025 at Lee Memorial Hospital.
Debbie was born December 9, 1947 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to the proud parents of Howard Bennett and Loretta (Fisher) Bennett. She attended public schools in Kent, Ohio and was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt high school class of 1966. She participated in student government, thespians and marching band as a majorette during her high school years. Debbie was a member of Kent Methodist Church, and a leader in MYF program, she also was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls where she held many posts, including worthy advisor.
Debbie attended Kent State University and was employed as assistant librarian at the University library.
She moved to Pomona, California in 1977 and later relocated to Rancho Cucamonga, California where she raised her two children George and Christina Bennett she was employed by Chaffey College as an assistant to the Athletic Drector. She returned to Florida in 2002 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Debbie will be remembered as a friend and mother to all, an avid card game player and mah-jongg player and an enthusiastic participant in all -things- bingo. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, movies, and spending all the time she had with her daughter, grandchildren, and her dog Einstein. Debbie was loved by so many at Fort Myers Presbyterian in Fort Myers where she resided with her dog Einstein for the last seven years.
Debbie is proceeded in death by her parents, Howard Bennett and Loretta (Bennett) Benjamin and is survived by her sister Barbara (Bennett) Olson and brother Howard Bennett(Carol), son George Bennett and Christina (Bennett) Likness(Troy), grandchildren, Julia Martin, Selina Santiago, Georgie Jr. and Gigi Bennett, nieces and nephews.
Debbie will be deeply missed by family friends and all that knew her.
Family and friends will celebrate her Life on Wednesday April 30 at 10 AM at Fort Myers Presbyterian 1925 Virginia Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901. All are welcome.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Funeral Services.
