Obituary
Michael Wayne Bryant, 51, was born in 1974 at Elmendorf Airforce Base in Anchorage, Alaska where his father was serving in the United States Army. He passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday May 20, 2025, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Michael grew up in Newberry, Florida and attended school there. He played Pee-Wee Football for the Newberry Panthers and attended Jonesville Baptist Church with his family. He was in the Newberry Watermelon Festival Little King Contest and was affectionately known as “Waterhead”, a nickname instilled by his closest family and friends!
Michael held mainly construction jobs including painting, roofing, tile work, fencing and farming. He enjoyed being on the Suwannee River with friends, watching Gator football, hunting and fishing. He liked to garden and inherited his “green thumb” from his mother. He loved dancing and was known to “cut a rug” every now and then. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
Michael is survived by his parents Mitchell (Vicky) Bryant, sister Michelle (Doug) Asbell, brother Justin (Samantha) Bryant, girlfriend Robin Thompson, son Kevin Bryant (Terri Bean), daughters Ashley Bryant (Jessie Reeves) and Makayla (Marcus) Frizzell, and 6 grandchildren Kevin Ray, Cort, Colt, Case, Ryleigh, and Presleigh.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Denton Bryant, Connell (Victoria) Sellars, Jack McKenzie, and Harry (Lucy) McKinney.
His funeral and burial will be at Union Baptist Church, 6259 SE 75th Ave, Newberry, Florida on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Graveside committal will follow at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
