Obituary
Anthony Bernard Wright, affectionately known as “Tony” and “House Man” in the Volusia County community, closed this earthly chapter of his life on July 9th, 2025.
Anthony was born in Sanford, Florida on April 7, 1949, to his mother, Bernice Ida Wright and his father, Eddie Elizy, Sr. both of whom predeceased him.
Also known as “Finn” and “Fenimore”, he was baptized as a member of New Salem P.B. Church, Sanford.
As a U.S. Army Veteran, he was an exceptionally talented individual. Throughout his life-adventures, he exercised his gifted skills widely and purposefully in his employment and creative endeavors: Telephone Lineman; House Painter; Train Chef (B-B-Q Vendor) and Community Outreach: Pool Hall/Youth Center Owner.
Left to embrace and uplift his memory are: his devoted wife and life-time friend: Melynda Houston Duh; his step-sons: Alan Duh (New Smyrna Beach) and Adam Duh (Orlando); brother: Dr. Stephen Caldwell Wright (Sanford); sisters: Joyce J. Thompson (Sanford) and Florence P. Fletcher (Atlanta); uncle: William Wright, Sr. (Sanford); unlce-in-law: Clark Peterson, Sr. (Lake Mary); aunt: Dr. Rosalie W. Cook (Sanford); aunt-in-law: Dr. Geraldine D. Wright (Lake Mary); nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, as well as the youths and individuals he inspired through his presence as an early community activist.
Respectfully, there will be no public service. Per his wishes, there will be a private committal of his cremains. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
