Obituary

Gary Fye, 77 of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 21 after a long battle with Dementia.

Gary was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on November 14, 1947 to Harry and Irma Fye. He was married to the love of his life Helen for 55 years.

Gary served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Sergeant, as well as completing NCO Leadership School, and earning the National Defense Service medal, a Navy Unit Citation, and the Rifle Sharpshooter Medal.

Gary was also a devoted husband, father, Pop-Pop, Pysanky artist, Band Dad, RC Flyer, poet, cruiser, and friend. Every decision he made was guided by love and he celebrated his loved ones with such joy. Never loud or attention-seeking, he loved his friends and family with a gentle reassurance of strength and unwavering belief in them.

He will be so deeply missed.

Gary is survived by his wife Helen, his daughters Michele and Diana, his grandchildren Karleigh and Alexander, and the dear friends and family he held in his heart his entire life.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 1:00pm on Friday, September 12 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513. A reception will follow at the family home.

Sending hugs to the entire Fye family and friends who are dealing with the painful loss of a kind, funny, caring Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friends. Mike and I are so sorry we can not come to hug you all in person. One of my memories is of him giving me a personally made by him, a Ukrainian easter egg. he was so excited to show me and tell me all about. my mom taught me that our loved ones that have passed are angels ( those night stars) so I know all the aunts are taking care of Gary.
