Obituary

Rich moved to Florida after spending many years in mid-Michigan, particularly in the Mt. Pleasant area, where he owned and managed several rental properties.

A proud Spartan, Rich graduated from Michigan State University and later worked there, eventually becoming director of the food services department. He loved MSU deeply and often enjoyed an action-packed gameday in the stands of Spartan Stadium.

Rich was a passionate collector of many things — art, cars, antiques, and countless interesting treasures. He especially loved old cars, and despite his tall stature, he had a special fondness for small convertibles, especially MGs and Austin Healeys. He was an active member of the British Motoring Club of Mid-Michigan and the Miata MX-5 Club of The Villages. Rich and his wife, Jayne, were always ready for a road rally, whether on the winding backroads of Michigan or the palm-lined streets of Florida.

Rich was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 23 adventurous years, Jayne (Estes), and by his parents, Robert and Mildred (Beadle) Pollion. He is survived by his stepchildren, Sam (Lisa) Estes of DeWitt, MI, and Kelly (Pete) Oppermann of Gaylord, MI; his sister, Joi Sherman of Birmingham, MI; as well as several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org) or the Parkinson’s Foundation(www.parkinson.org). A private memorial for he & Jayne will be held for close family & friends at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com
