Obituary
Barbara (Barb) A. Conroy, beloved wife, mother, Grammy, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on March 8, 1943, in Kearney, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ann Slomkowski.
On November 6, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jack. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, humor, and love. They raised their two daughters, Doreen and Christine, in Bel Air, Maryland, where family and community were at the center of their lives.
She and Jack loved the simple joys of summers together—family trips to the beach and long days spent at the pool with their daughters. After retirement, they enjoyed time in South Carolina before returning to Bel Air to be near their growing family. She especially treasured her role as “Grammy” to her four grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. In later years, she and Jack embraced the warmth and friendships of The Villages, first as snowbirds and then, beginning in 2009, as full-time residents.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing cards and games, dining out, and spending time with friends and family. Known for her thoughtfulness, she put care into every gift she gave. And when friends or family visited, there was always a dessert in the fridge and coffee ready to be shared.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack; her daughters, Doreen Conroy and Christine McGrath; her sons-in-law, Jason Manley and Jesse McGrath; her cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Justin, Kylie, and Mila; her brothers, Ed (his wife, Luciann) and Rich; and many extended family members and friends.
She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her loyalty to those she loved, and the thoughtful ways she showed her care.
A celebration of her life will be held in the Fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in her memory.
