Obituary
Kathy Marie Merrifield
In Loving Memory of Kathy Marie Merrifield, 71, of the Villages, Florida who passed away on Thursday, November 20th, 2025
With deep sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Merrifield, of The Villages, Florida, who left us peacefully on Thursday, November 20th. Born on August 11, 1954, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to James and Rita Kane, Kathy lived a life defined by kindness, patience, and an unwavering devotion to her family. She now joins her beloved parents, James and Rita, who preceded her in death.
Kathy was a beloved mother to her sons David and Derek Merrifield, and a caring mother-in-law to Ann Marie Rodriguez and Erika Merrifield. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, Isabella, Logan, Cecilia, Ella, and Colton Merrifield, each of whom she adored with her whole heart. To them, she was not just a grandmother but a steady source of comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love.
For more than twenty years, Kathy shared a beautiful life with her partner, Patrick Drury. Together, they traveled to Ireland, explored new places, and enjoyed the simple pleasures that made their days special.
Life in The Villages suited Kathy perfectly. She loved taking golf cart rides, spending afternoons at the pool, and maintaining her lifelong passion for fitness, especially running.
Kathy is survived by her siblings Mary Sabol and her husband Joe, Eileen Capece, Patricia “Patty” Green, and James “Jimmy” Kane and his wife Gloria, as well as by her many nieces and nephews who she cherished deeply. Kathy also leaves behind many close family members and dear friends. She was the patient center of a large and loving family, someone who listened without judgment, loved without hesitation, and made every person she met feel valued.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and the way she touched hearts simply by being herself.
