Obituary
Peter Filippello passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the age of 97.
Peter was born January 13, 1928, and was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida until he moved to Ormond Beach to be near his daughter and her husband and 2 grandchildren. He was born to loving parents, Phillip and Pauline Filippello, and was the oldest and only son. He had 3 sisters, Rosalie Borucki, Marianna Phillips, and Frances Latteri.
Peter enjoyed being a husband and father and was a man of the highest integrity. He was fearless, determined, and funny with a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed meeting people, making friends, traveling, fishing, and learning new things.
Peter graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and was stationed in Camp Polk, LA. He later attended Medical Field Service School at Ft. Sam Houston, TX where he was a Medical Aid man & cook. He was discharged with Honors as an E4. He married the love of his life, Teresa Arbisi on January 9, 1955, and they were together for 70 years.
Peter accomplished many things during his lifetime in Tampa. He was a top salesman for Ferman Chevrolet for 15 years and also worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance as a sales agent. He would also acquire and sell real estate and was one of the top real estate agents. He was an active member in the Masonic Lodge for many years in Tampa, and continued when he moved to Ormond Beach in 1992, where he was a member of the Ormond Beach Lodge #326. He attained the rank of Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Daytona Beach York Rite Bodies and Knights of the York Cross of Honor. Peter was a member of the Masons for 68 years.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Filippello, his sisters, Rosalie Borucki and Frances Latteri, and a number of close family and friends. He is survived by his children, Anthony Filippello (Tampa, FL), and Phyllis Taylor and her husband Garry Taylor (Ormond Beach, FL), grandchildren Nicholas and Andrew Taylor, sister Marianne Phillips, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
The family will receive friends and family beginning at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Foundation, The Shriners, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
