Obituary

~Forever In Our Hearts~

Janet Flood Walsh, born January 25, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, entered God’s heavenly embrace on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Janet lived a life defined by service, family, and an abiding love of learning. The daughter of Walter V. Flood and Jeanne F. McMonagle, Janet carried forward the strong values instilled by her parents to shape her lifelong commitment to hard work and compassion.

Janet trained as a registered nurse and devoted her professional life to caring for others. She began her career in the emergency room, where her calm competence and quick judgment were invaluable, and later found her calling in pediatrics. There, she learned not only clinical skills but the foundation of her success as a mother and wife. Janet continued to give back as a hospital volunteer when not singing with her harmony groups (the Pitch Pipers, Harmony Sound Waves, and most recently The Joyful Noise Choir) or winning some silver on the golf course. An avid reader, she passed the love of learning on to her children.  The former Miss Inverness married Andrew Joseph Walsh in 1956, beginning a fifty year marriage and family life that would become the center of her world. Together they raised a large, lively family in a home that was rarely quiet and never dull. Janet thrived amid the bustle, famously sewing dresses or mending her kids clothing while keeping everything—and everyone—moving forward and surrounded by laughter and love.

She wrote an amazing second chapter after Andrew’s death in 2007, reinventing herself as a confident matriarch, shepherding her growing family for the next 19 years.  She is survived by her seven children: Kathleen Walsh (and her husband, Douglas Platt), Patricia Dailey (and her husband, Matthew), Jeanne Renzulli (and her husband, Joseph), Thomas Walsh (and his wife, Tami), Christopher Walsh (and his wife, Stephanie), Robert Walsh (and his wife, Kristen), and Elizabeth Dobbs (and her husband, James). Janet also leaves behind 14 beloved grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, (with 1 more on the way), each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

A burial ceremony will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, January 9, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33513.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society of Orlando, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Janet’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

I didn’t know Janet Walsh personally. I know her oldest, Kathleen. By knowing Kathleen , I know Janet was a lovely person, a wonderful mother, and a gracious lady. I am sure she is now singing joyfully with God’s choir in heaven.
