Obituary

Thomas Paul Myslow passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on January 7, 2026, at the age of 88. He was the kindest, most generous, and caring man in the world to his family and friends.

Born on May 30, 1937, he is survived by his wife, Jane, of 36 years; his two sons, Matthew and Chris; and his sister, Bernice Dyroff. He was loved like a father and mentor by Jane’s five children—Tracey, Jay, Keith, Dana (adopted by Tom), and Melissa—as well as by his 16 amazing grandchildren, who will dearly miss his laugh and sarcasm.

Born in Albany, NY, Tom attended the Vincentian Institute for grades K–12 and graduated in 1955. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and then served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1960 to 1967. He was employed at IBM for 30 years as a Product Development Manager.

Tom led an extremely full and generous life. He was a resident of Sherman, CT, for almost 47 years. He founded and operated the Sherman Hardware Store in 1976. He was an active member of the Sherman Fire Department, a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals (Chairman for 10 years), and a member of the Sherman Board of Education (eight years, including two as Chairman).

In 2009, he and Jane moved to Heritage Shores in Bridgeville, DE, where he became very active in the Military Club and sponsored 16 military concert fundraisers over a span of nine years. After relocating to the Prato neighborhood in Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers, FL, in 2019, he and Jane organized fundraisers for Tunnel to Towers, raising over $100,000.

Tom’s extraordinary charm touched so many, and his loving presence will be missed, especially by Jane, the love of his life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Tom’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. A notification and acknowledgment of your donation will be sent to Jane.
