Lloyd (John) Lauber went to meet Jesus July 10, 2020 in Summerfield FL due to complications of COPD which he has fought for many years. He was 75. Mr. Lauber was born on November 17, 1944 in Redbud, IL to Lloyd John Sr and Roma Lauber. He went to St. Phillip Catholic grade school and graduated from Assumption Catholic Highschool. After graduation he went to Ranken Technical School and received a certificate in Electrical. After graduating from Ranken he joined the Army. When he was eighteen he was awarded The Carnegie Hero Award for saving a woman who had jumped into the freezing waters of the Mississippi River. He threw his coat off jumped in after her and swam seventy feet to bring her back to the shore. When he came back from the army he started working for Granite City Steel as an electrician. John worked his way up to management at the steel mill becoming Maintanence and Electrical Manager. He worked for the steel mill for forty years. Instead of retiring John decided to work for Sach’s Electric. John and his wife retired to Stonecrest Golf Club community where he loved playing golf and the many friends he formed there. We will all miss his smile and jokes and May God keep him in his hands.
