Overt Louis Carroll
1940-2021
Overt Louis Carroll, age 80, of 616 Juniper Way, Tavares Florida, peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2021.
Born October 7, 1940 in Petersburg Virginia to Overt and Vivian (Grimes) Carroll. Moved to Munfordville, Ky after high school and met his wife of 58 years, Sandra Jean Schlinker. The two moved to Louisville, KY and then to Winchester, KY raising their children, Laura and Brian.
Overt attended Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and then The University of Louisville where he graduated with degrees in Finance and Business Administration. Overt joined Clark RECC (Energy) eventually becoming President and General Manager. After retiring in late 2005, he and his wife Sandra moved to Tavares Florida where they enjoyed playing golf and traveling and spending time with their friends. They were members of First Baptist Church in Winchester and First United Methodist Church in Florida. He was proud to be a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Kiwanis, Civitan, Shriners and a Kentucky Colonel.
Overt was preceded in death by his father, Overt, his mother, Vivian, and his sister, Kathleen Sallee. He is survived by his wife, Sandra S Carroll (Schlinker), his son, Brian L. Carroll (Jennifer), of Marietta, GA, his daughter, Laura C. Johnson (Tomas) of Winchester, KY, his brother, James Carroll (Sina) and his brother-in-law, Charles Sallee (Kathleen).
Family and friends are invited to attend a short memorial service at 2:00 pm, June 19th , at First Baptist Church, 32 East Lexington Ave. Winchester, KY 40391. Visitation will follow until 4pm.
Graveside service will be held June 22nd in Munfordville KY.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, American Kidney Fund, Kosair Children’s Hospital or St. Jude.
