Robert Gary Warnicke of Ormond Beach passed away suddenly Sunday August 1.  Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1942, Bob had two children, Leigh Anne Lioi (Chris) and Rob Warnicke, who live in the Atlanta area.  Four grandchildren from Bob’s marriage to Anne are Lainey and Abbey Lioi and Riley and Ryan Warnicke. From his marriage to Paula in 1991, Bob gained two sons-in-law: Paul Burch (Kristie) and David Burch (Jennifer) and his four grandchildren Madelyn, Emma, David James and Bobby Burch.

Bob first showed his love of cooking when he started cooking in the family kitchen at age 8.  By age 15 he was cooking on the Great Lakes cruise boats, and then after high school, he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America as a master chef. Already married to Anne, Bob next graduated from U Mass with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. After graduating, Bob held several important food service positions and enjoyed so much owning his own restaurant in Gainesville, Georgia, where he lived on Lake Lanier.  In the 1980s Bob was National Sales Manager for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts and was often called the “Nut Man.”  Bob loved to work in his industry and seemed to enjoy cooking a meal almost more than he enjoyed eating it.

Bob’s joys included boating on Lake Lanier, attending outdoor church services at the Lake, providing so many delicious meals, fish fries, and crab leg dinners to those on the Bald Ridge marina dock. Retiring to Aberdeen community in Ormond Beach, Bob served on the HOA for six years.   He still enjoyed donning his chef’s jacket and helping out on occasions at Aberdeen.   Bob loved to tease and if he teased you, he liked you.

Bob’s favorite way to worship our Lord was through music.  He was a listener, not a performer, but found so much joy in the gospel sings at Westside Baptist Church on the first Friday of each month and listening to Christian music in his car.  On vacation, we listened to our now outdated religious CDs sitting outside at the lake.

A celebration of life will be held for Bob at Lighthouse Christ Presbyterian Church at 1 P. M. on August 28 followed by a gathering at the Aberdeen Club House at 50 Alden Green Blvd. in Ormond.

Georgia friends and family will gather on September 11 at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church at 11 a. m. to remember Bob.
