Obituary
Lisa Dunlap, 53, of Lehigh Acres,FL passed away October 31, 2021 in Lehigh Acres, FL
Lisa was born on July 30, 1968 in Fort Myers, FL. She dedicated her life to her children and advocating for rights for people with disabilities. She spent most of her time caring for others and was the type of person who often put others needs before her own. If anyone needed anything, day or night, she would be there without hesitation.
She was a superhuman caregiver to her son Adam. Even as a young mother she never let any health issue faze her. She was very hands on with his care and wouldn’t settle for anything but the best. Through countless doctors visits and hospital stays she was right by his side, never blinking, always making sure everything was done just as it should be. She often knew more than the nurses(and would sometimes say so). Her reputation preceded her in many doctors offices and everyone knew to be on their A-game when she walked in.
Even though caring for Adam was a 24/7 job she never let anyone feel left out. She was a fierce supporter and defender of all her children and always showed interest in their hobbies and talents. She was at every art show and sports game and would never miss an opportunity to show her kids off.
Lisa was an incredible cook. Her spaghetti sauce, macaroni salad, and pumpkin cheesecake can never be replicated. She didn’t drink iced tea but somehow made the best you’ve ever had. She was a talented cake decorator and could make flower arrangements that would rival even the most seasoned professionals. She loved to kayak on the Estero River and go to art museums. Her favorite artist was Salvador Dali. She frequented his museum in St. Petersburg,FL and even travelled to Spain to see his museum in his home town.
Lisa was taken from us far too soon and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her fiancé Cary Sellner; son Adam Dunlap; and parents Leta and Daniel Himschoot.
She is survived by her children, Amber and Cody Dunlap of Lehigh Acres,FL; her sisters Debbie Jenkins of Lehigh Acres, FL and Anita Himschoot Moore of Moultrie, GA; and her brother Chris Himschoot of Lehigh Acres,FL
