Obituary
William B McGlashan, Sr. passed away on April 18, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born on October 15, 1946 in Montclair, New Jersey.
Bill worked as an Account Executive in the telecommunications industry for over 40 years. He played on the men’s softball league for several years.
In 1997, Bill and his wife Mary moved to Nashville, Tennessee. He joined Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club. He loved the game of golf and made many wonderful friends. He won the Bluegrass Ramble two years in a row. He was known as the “Ramble Champ 2.”
On July 5, 2014, Bill got a hole in one on Bluegrass, Yacht and Country Club. It was on our 23rd wedding anniversary. On August 9, 2014 he got another hole in one. They were both on number 10 at Bluegrass.
Bill loved traveling. He traveled with his wife Mary to St. Marten for many years. He and his wife Mary moved to the villages in 2016. Shortly after moving to the villages he started working at Mallory Golf Course, as an Ambassador and a Starter. He loved meeting and talking with the golfers. He played with his golf group on Monday and Friday.
Bill also belonged to the Penn State Club. He loved Penn State football ball and attended many of the games at State College.
Bill belonged to the Scottish Club. He and his wife Mary attended the Robert Burns dinner every year. Bill loved his Scottish Heritage.
Bill loved to watch his grandchildren play in their favorite sports. He and his wife Mary would travel to Texas to visit the grandchildren and attend their games. He also traveled to Nashville to visit his other grandchildren. He was very proud of them and loved them very much.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mary (Conlan). She was “the love of his life.” He is also survived by his sons William (Brenda), Jason (Melissa), and stepson Jason Wells (Amber), grand children, Jack, Owen Aaliyah, Erin, Kyndal, Kaleb and Kaylee; his brother Robert McGlashan (Bobbie), a sister-in-law Pam McGlashan and many nieces and nephews and friends, He is predeceased by his brother Jim McGlashan.
Bill ended his day with a espresso martini and a cigar. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
Celebration of his life will be at a later date with family and his golf buddies.
