Obituary
Shirley Ann Ortiz
1951 – 2024
On the evening of July 16, 2024, at Daytona Beach, Florida, Shirley Ann Ortiz went Home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. She was surrounded by family, close friends, and loved ones.
Shirley was born on the 24th of April in 1951 in Knox County, Tennessee as the second of eight children to Clarence and Stella Whedbee. She was married for 53 years to her loving husband, Rafael “JR” Ortiz Torres.
Shirley was a wonderful person who touched the heart of everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. She was the most exceptional mother and grandmother a family could ever hope for. A devout Christian and member of Flomich Baptist Church in Holly Hill, her penchant for unconditional love was second to none. She graciously served the community through her work as a Jewelry Repair Specialist at Jessup’s of Daytona from 1994 until 2020.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her oldest brother (Clarence Rodney Whedbee), and her younger sister (Jean Whedbee). She was survived by her husband, her daughter and son-in-law (Elizabeth Jayne and Terry Llewellyn), her sons (Rafael James Ortiz-Torres and Eric Justin Ortiz-Torres), her younger sisters (Mary Lucille Robles and Patricia Gale Metallo), her younger brothers (Donovan, William, and Benjamin Whedbee), her three grandchildren (Isabella Benezette, Spencer and Ethan Llewellyn), several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends, both near and far.
A celebration of life service will be held at Flomich Baptist Church, date TBD.
Love always,
Katie
