Obituary
William “Bill” Hoffman, Sr., 78, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Ocala, Florida after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 20, 1945 in Orange, NJ to the late Wyllys “Bud” and Gertrude “Gertie” Hoffman. Bill attended East Orange High School.
Bill had one son, William “Billy” Hoffman, Jr. He leaves behind his loving wife of 24 years, Diane Quinn Hoffman; three stepchildren, Christopher Kaufman, Brian Kaufman, (Renee), and Meghan Adams; brother, Garry; nephews, Garry Hoffman, Jr. (Melissa), Jeff Hoffman (Cassie), Ryan Hoffman, and Paul Aase; niece, Kathy Aase; brother-in-law, Brian Aase, Jr. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren who lovingly called him Pops: McKayla Kaufman, McKenzie Kaufman, Carson Kaufman, Lincoln Kaufman. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Billy and sister, Judy Aase.
Bill was a 33-year candy industry veteran and the honorable owner of Great Southern Marketing, a candy brokerage in Atlanta, Georgia. His never-ending drive and work ethic led to his induction into the NCSA Candy Hall of Fame in 1997.
He was an avid sports enthusiast and multi-talented athlete. His friends will remember him as an amazing golfer. He enjoyed playing catch and shooting hoops with his children. Bill loved his family, friends, golf, Black Label, and Georgia Tech basketball. His overwhelming passion for baseball will not be forgotten.
Bill was quick witted and the life of the party. He was known for his never-ending jokes, but most of all for his kindness for all around him. In Bill’s honor, we ask in lieu of flowers, please pay someone’s bar tab after a round of golf!
