Obituary
With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher “Chris” Todd Anthony on October 5, 2024, in Bradenton, FL, at the age of 62. Chris was known for his devotion to his family, incredible sense of humor and ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a remarkable talent for making people laugh, and his presence brought comfort and happiness to many.
Born on May 15, 1962, Chris grew up in sunny Plantation, Florida. He was the beloved son of Thelma Anthony and the late Thomas Anthony. A proud graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville with a degree in Business Management, Chris went on to build a successful career. He worked as an insurance agent, a Regulatory Compliance Manager for Pazzione Wine Imports, and founded/owned his own pest control company, which he eventually sold before becoming a general manager.
Chris was a devoted husband to Margie Traylor, sharing more than 23 wonderful years together. As a proud father, he took immense joy in his role as dad to Gianna Traylor, Niklas Traylor, Melissa Buchkovich (husband Peter), and Amanda Anthony. He took great pride in being called “Papa” by his five grandchildren—Jacob, Lucas, Samuel, Drayden, and Vincent. Chris was immensely proud of his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. The family’s loyal dog, Bella, was always by his side, accompanying him on many walks and cozy movie nights.
Chris is also survived by his brothers Mark Anthony, Matt Anthony (wife Cathy), and Tommy Anthony (wife Tammie). He was predeceased by his brother Stephen Anthony (wife Anita). Chris had a close bond with his nieces and nephews, including Matt Jr., Shannon, Tasha, Tiffany, Thalia, Charles, Christin, and Stephen, who all held a special place in his heart and will deeply miss him.
Chris had a passion for classic cars, wine, football (he was a die-hard Miami Dolphins and UF Gators fan), golf, and playing pool. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing or simply relaxing by the water. He loved learning about history, staying connected with business & world events, cooking, eating a rare prime rib/steak, cracking jokes, listening to music, dancing, hanging out with family, and was always ready for a good party. He could be described by many as “the life of the party”. His strong work ethic, patience, problem-solving skills, and knack for sharing interesting facts sparked engaging conversations. He excelled in hands-on life skills that made a difference in people’s lives. He loved to unwind by settling into his favorite recliner and watching a show or Adam Sandler movie, always appreciating life’s simple pleasures.
Chris was also actively involved in his community, serving as a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Boy Scouts of America, Vice President of the Braden River High School Athletic Boosters, a football coach and team dad for East Manatee Bulldogs Pop Warner Football, and President of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse.
Chris leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. His ability to connect with others and brighten their lives will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Bradenton, FL with further details to follow. Once finalized, details will be posted on the website mentioned below.
