Andrew was born in Danville, Virginia, to Janet L. Denson and Danny E. Denson. He went to school in Danville and graduated from George Washington High School around 1998. Andrew traveled to and lived in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida, and Portland, Maine, prior to his move to Fort Myers. He worked in flooring installation, landscaping, pest control, various jobs in the service industry then moved to Fort Myers, Florida where he worked as a forklift operator. He came to North Carolina in 2006 to be closer to family then back to the Cape Coral, Florida area where he learned and worked for Water Medic, and then back to forklift operation. He much preferred the coastal areas! He was an avid fisherman and loved to catch and eat new species of fish. His favorite being Puffer fish meat! Andrew was an excellent cook and loved to eat! He was a connoisseur of good food and loved to learn new techniques in cooking. He loved to feed people good food! His other love was music. Andrew was a very talented DJ. He also played the guitar, bass, some percussion, and the piano. He was an artist and even dabbled in writing. He always had music playing in his home. Andrew was a special, kind, and interesting young man. He was very talented.
Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bob and Tillie Lea; his paternal grandparents, Oledith Denson and Elvin A. Denson; and one of his older brothers, Joel Benjamin Denson, who passed away early in 2025.
He is survived by his parents, Janet Lea Minter and Danny E. Denson; and his 2 brothers Daniel C. Lea and R. Kevin Denson. He has many cousins on both sides of his family that he loved dearly. He often reminisced of all the fun times he and different cousins had. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all of us.
We would like to give a special thanks to Lili and Reuben Adames, Andrew’s landlords. Lili and Reuben have been so special to Andrew and good to him through the years. They were his landlords but they often fed Andrew, helped him fix stuff, gave him furniture so he could rest and live more comfortably. In general they were very good to him. They have also helped our family when we needed them. We are grateful!
For any “memorial” gifts in Andrew’s name please give to any reputable food bank anywhere or to St. Jude’s Hospital at stjude.org or donations may be made by telephone by calling 1-800-805-5856. Thank you.
Rest in deserved peace and good health Andrew. We all love you and we’ll miss you always…
