Bernie took me under his wing when I reported to Texas as the new Administrative Officer in 1998. I enjoyed his wisdom along with his engaging (and occasionally irascible) personality as I met folks in Wichita Falls, San Angelo, El Paso and elsewhere while learning the Texas ropes.
